About me

Hi! I’m Avery (he/they).

I believe everyone deserves a good therapist, because being a person is hard. I’ve included a little bit of information about my background, style, and areas of expertise- if you have any questions, I encourage you to reach out!

Background & Education

I have over 10 years of education and experience working in the mental health field. I received my Bachelors in Cognitive Science from UCLA and completed my graduate work at USC. I’ve provided therapy, assessment, and advocacy in a range of environments including crisis settings, hospitals, and community mental health. In addition to my clinical experience, I’ve also contributed to large-scale psychiatry research studies at Stanford, UCSF, and UCLA. Most clients come to me for support managing OCD/anxiety, trauma, or relationship issues, as I have extensive training in each of these areas.

Approach

My style is relational, affirming, and flexible to your needs and goals. Regardless of what you’re interested in exploring, therapy should be a place you can show up exactly as you are- without judgment. As a queer, biracial, and neurodivergent clinician, I am committed to providing high quality, culturally sensitive care to people of all backgrounds. I’m sex/kink positive, poly-affirming, and practice from a Health at Every Size perspective. I draw on a range of modalities including psychodynamic (talk) therapy, EMDR, Exposure and Response Prevention, I-CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, parts work/inner child healing, and mind-body interventions.

Availability & Fees

I see adolescent and adult clients in Hermosa Beach and virtually throughout the state of California. My fees are as follows:

Individual Therapy (50 min): $250

Relationship/Couples Therapy (5o min): $275

Group Therapy (75 min): $60

I do not file with insurance, but I can provide superbills to submit for reimbursement. I also reserve a few sliding scale slots for folks in financial need.

If you are seeking support for OCD or related disorders, you may also be able to petition to have your expenses covered due to the lack of specialists in network.
